  Methods used to defend the WTBTS - how sound are they?

  have you ever noticed that the watchtower apologists always use the same argaments to defend the organization - and that these arguments are the same ones they use in reverse to attack 'false' religion?that the organization is made up of imperfect men - therefore it is bound to make errors in both doctrine and action at times.

  but that argument is not accepted for say the catholic faith or the lutherans when they attempt to refute the accusation that they have not the 'truth'that we will wait on jehovah to clear up that issue or this - but the other religions are not allowed that defense.that we changed doctrine due to new light on the matter - but the other religions are following 'teachings of demons'.

  now the sun will begin it's ascent from it's southern-most journey (tropic of capricorn 23.5 degrees south) to the north.

  random task and i are having a healthy beautiful little girl (amelia sophia), they uped the due date from may 14 to may 9. it is just what we wanted we are so excited.

  Interesting how our Western Civilization has its foundation in the Roman Empire and its religious roots from.....the first century christians sects and the ancient Hebrews! ( Judeo-Christian culture)

  How much more fun it would be if the ancient Roman ( and Greek!) Gods had survived to our present day.

  I would just love to design a temple for Jupiter; and think of the fun that could be had designing one for Aphrodite!

  I find my knowledge of Greek mythology far more interesting and enjoyable than what I learned from the WTBTS!

  Homecoming

  a friend of mine didnt come home after school then went to his high schools local homecoming , he didnt tell his parents or anyone else except for his none jw friends .

  his sister also snuck him out to go to a concert twice .

  what should i do with him as a friend ?

  why do you have to DO anything?

  What he does is his business. If if does not involve you; why are you concerned? He obviously does what he wants to do.

  If you are thinking of ratting him out to someone (like his parents or an Elder) ; remember that such action will only cast you in an "unpleasant" light. Being labeled as a "snitch" is not a good thing.

  If you do not want to be his friend anymore as a result of his independence; that is your choice and you can still be polite to him without accepting any of his invitiations.

  i just watched the breakfast club for the bazillionth time.

  i always turn 15 again when i watch it.

  i need to score the dvd, it isn't the same when they clip out scenes and rewrite the "naughty words".

  "Breakfast Club" was one of my all time favorites.....

  I watch it whenever it comes on...and I really like the theme song.

  ( my kids watched it with me once and thought I was a nerd) ? But what do they know.....

  yes, these are educated; open minded people who really can THINK for themselves....they just happen to be Catholic. They take their religion in stride; and it certainly IS NOT the centerpiece of their life. My personal experience with the Catholic Church through my wife and her family has actually been a positive one. They have accepted me as a non Catholic; and NO ONE is breathing down my neck to convert. If you are a good person; you are accepted. It seems to be the motto of all of their friends also.

  The Catholic Church as I see it and in the experience of my wifes contact with it , is one of a caring community--not exclusive to its own kind. They sponser massive charity drives; locally they are attempting housing for the homeless; they have food kitchens for donation to the poor ; holiday dinners for the homeless ( of which which volunteer time and food).

  When my wife and I were married in a Catholic Church ( St. Patricks on 5th Ave in NYC) I was overwhelmed with all the Pomp and Ceremony. Her family priest married us and even HE did not take any of it seriously; he knew I was not Catholic and encouraged me to "have a good life and be good to his little Patricia".

  It was a very positive experience for me.

  this board is the biggest jw discussion board that i know of.

  i'm sure timid witnesses look here on a daily basis but do not join for various reasons.

  i know some might not really know what to expect if they did become a member.

  in reality; a springboard or waiting area for those on their way to a building a new life.....

  My sad news

  as some of you on the board knew i was expecting a baby, i feel i should let you know that things have not worked out for us.. when i went for the 20 week ultrasound scan last thursday, severe problems were found with our baby's internal development.

  only one kidney was detected, and it was very enlarged and polycystic.

  there was no long term hope for the baby at all; if it survived to full term it could only live for hours at most.
